Published Jun 23, 2026
In this section of Jeremiah, we see how the prophet's suffering for truth grew worse over time. Not always arranged chronologically, we see a building resentment and mistreatment of Jeremiah. In this, we see many parallels to Christ, and all He suffered for us.
- StandardSummaries onlyAn Earthly, Heavenly Place, Hebrews 9, NT S1:E265

- StandardSummaries onlyTruth or Treason? Jeremiah 36, OT S1:E521
Published Jun 20, 2026
It is a sad, sad time when truth is treated as treason. Even though Jeremiah had been nothing but faithful, and much of what he prophesied came true before the eyes of his hearers, he is jailed for his proclamation. He had to flee and hide to save his life. Wicked King Jehoiakim burned with anger, even after burning Jeremiah's prophecy, ordering the prophet be jailed. When we suffer for speaking truth, we have a great friend and encouragement in Jeremiah.
- StandardSummaries onlyFaith Challenges Ungodliness, Jeremiah 35, OT S1:E520
Published Jun 19, 2026
The Rechabites were a family known for their abstinence from alcohol and perpetually living in tents. They persisted in the ancient way of the shepherds, leading a simple life. They were commended by God through the prophet, even as He challenged godless Judah with the humble faithfulness of this family.
- StandardSummaries onlyMost Excellent Covenant, Hebrews 8, NT S1:E264
Published Jun 18, 2026
When we make an oath, we swear by something greater than ourselves. Since God can't swear by anything higher than Himself, He has sworn to love and forgive us by His own blood shed on a cross. This mystery is profound, yet it assures us of a good standing before God.
- StandardSummaries onlyMercy for the Undeserving, Jeremiah 34, OT S1:E519
Published Jun 17, 2026
King Zedekiah does not deserve the Lord's mercy, because he's been a horrible king. But mercy is undeserved love, given when God relents of punishing us for our sin. Since all sin has been punished in Christ Jesus, we all live with the hope of mercy, which is God's undeserved love in Christ Jesus.
- StandardSummaries onlyRestored For Life, Jeremiah 33, OT S1:E518
Published Jun 16, 2026

- StandardSummaries onlyKing of Righteousness and Peace, Hebrews 7, NT S1:E263

- StandardSummaries onlyTrue Restoration, Jeremiah 32, OT S1:E517
Published Jun 13, 2026
Jeremiah does a great act of faith, in buying for himself a field in the midst of the siege. He knows that Isreal will be restored, so his apparently foolhardy investment is a a bold proclamation of faith, even in the face of defeat.
- StandardSummaries onlyI AM the Way, Jeremiah 31, OT S1:E516

- StandardSummaries onlyCertain of Better Things, Hebrews 6, NT S1:E262
Published Jun 11, 2026
The writer of the Hebrews warns his readers about the dangers of human nature, which is inherently turned away from God. He reminds them that we are saved not by human effort or will, but simply for the sake of Christ, who has become our eternal High Priest. May we also find our assurance in the accomplished sacrifice of Christ, instead of our faulty faithfulness.

Published Jun 10, 2026
Here we hear very clear prophecies of the Messiah, God Himself, who will become a man to save us! - StandardSummaries onlySpecific Prophecies, Jeremiah 27-28, OT S1:E513
Published Jun 6, 2026
There is a growing "prophetic" movement in America today. These "prophets" often claim to have foreseen events after they happen. Their prophecies are vague and subject to interpretation. Jeremiah, and all true prophets are allowed to speak clearly about the future, but only when God allows. Instead of presumptuously claiming to be something we are not, or listening to those who lie, let us test the words of the prophets. Sadly, most "prophets" are delusional, and leading many astray.
- StandardSummaries onlyFaithful Prophet and People, Jeremiah 26, OT S1:E512
Published Jun 5, 2026
Jeremiah is here imprisoned and faces capital punishment, is threatened with death, for preaching the truth. Here we see that often the godly suffer at the hands of the godless. Jeremiah is a great encouragement to those who are called to speak the truth in love and suffer for doing so. Ahikam is a great example for those who are called to support prophets and pastors called to speak truth, regardless of the personal cost.
- StandardSummaries onlyLiving and Active, Hebrews 4, NT S1:E260

- StandardSummaries onlyGood and Bad Fruit, Jeremiah 24-25, OT S1:E511
Published Jun 3, 2026
Good people produce good fruit, and evil people produce bad. Even though sin lives in everyone of us, Christians are led by the Holy Spirit to turn from sin and live. If we refuse, we are destined to follow the ways of the world and our sinful flesh. When we do bad, and are punished, we get what we deserve. When we do good and are blessed, God gets all the glory and honor.

- StandardSummaries onlyTo Listen is to Live, Jeremiah 21-22, OT S1:E509

God's Word is truth and life, even when we don't believe it. As the Babylonians drew near to Jerusalem, Jeremiah encouraged the people to turn themselves over that they may live. - StandardSummaries only"Curse the Day I was Born!" Jeremiah 20, OT S1:E508
Published May 29, 2026
Jeremiah is thrown into the stocks for faithfully carrying the Lord's Word to His obstinant people. Sometimes we suffer for doing the right things, not the wrong. God's opponents can't take their anger out on the Lord, so they often take it out on God's people. When this is the case, and we despair even of life, it is good to know that the Lord is on our side and will deliver us in the end.
- StandardSummaries onlyPerfected Through Suffering, Hebrews 2, NT S1:E258
Published May 28, 2026

- StandardSummaries onlyGetting Just Desserts, Jeremiah 19, OT S1:E507
Published May 27, 2026

Baptism is God's gift to us, whereby He blesses us in every way by His Holy Spirit's power. Too many empty baptism of its redeeming power by reducing it to a human work. We instead receive it as a great blessing whereby God redeems us with saving faith in Christ Jesus.
- StandardSummaries onlyScarecrows, Jeremiah 10, OT S1:E501
Published May 16, 2026
In Jeremiah's day, people chose to worship "gods" they made and decorated, instead of the God who made and clothed them. We also get to choose who we worship. Would you rather worship a god who expects everything from you, or the God who's given all for you?
- StandardSummaries onlyBroken Beyond Repair, Jeremiah 8-9, OT S1:E500
Published May 15, 2026
God's people had so left the Lord that there was no hope for their relationship with Him. Even migrating birds know when to go home, but Israel refused to return to the Lord. So long as we hold fast our sin and reject God, there is no hope for us. But thanks be to God that He is always loving and caring for His people. Even when we don't deserve it, He opens His arms to us when we return to Him in faith and repentance because in Christ, He offers full forgiveness of sin.

Isaiah reminds Judah that God seems to be ignoring their prayers because they are acting in ungodliness. Their sin has seperated them from the Lord's favor. But instead of condemning them eternally, God is going to rescue them from their sin. God's undeserved love is a great encouragement to us in righteousness, knowing that His great power to redeem is at work in us when we walk in His way.
- StandardSummaries onlyGenuine Faith, Isaiah 58, OT S1:E488
Published Apr 24, 2026
Genuine faith is a hard article to come by. Living in the age of infulencers and filters, people are trained to put forward a preferred (dare I say false) view of themselves. This leads to hurt and costly ruin. If we want to see the power of God at work in our lives, we will put the Lord to the test, by walking in His way, to see what only He can do in us and through us.
- StandardSummaries onlyWith Godliness, I Timothy 6, NT S1:E248
